- Take 1 bowl Rajma(kidney beans)
- Prepare 5 bowls water
- Get 2 tbsp cooking oil

- Take 2 green chillies

- Take 1/2 tsp coriander seeds powder
- Prepare 1/2 tsp garam masala
- Get 1/4 tsp MDH rajma masala
Another name for this dish is Rajma Masala - where Rajma refers to the beans and Masala means a spiced gravy. Rajma masala is a weekend affair at home and a Sunday lunch. Drain the water and wash the soaked rajma twice. Drain the water and reserve this water for later use in the curry.
Instructions to make Rajma Masala Curry:
- Wash and Soak kidney beans for 4 hours in Water.
- Transfer it to a pressure cooker. Add water and salt and close the lid.
- Pressure cook till 10 minutes after the first whistle on medium flame. Switch off the flame. Let pressure release automatically.
- Wash, peel, and chop onion garlic, ginger, tomato, and green chili. Transfer it to a mixer and grind to a fine paste.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and when cumin seeds splutter put ground paste in it and cook on low flame till it turns golden brown. It may take 10-12 minutes.
- Add salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander seeds powder, garam masala, and rajma masala and mix well. Sauté for 1 minute.
- Now add boiled rajma in it with water in which it was boiled. Adjust the consistency of water if needed.
- Place the lid and pressure cook for 5 minutes after the first whistle on medium flame. Switch off the flame. Let pressure release automatically.
- Now open the lid and add garam masala and chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with chapatti or rice.
