You can call it sweet sattu drink or sattu sharbat. I have also added the Savory or namkeen sattu drink. sattu is good for both kids and adults alike. For this sweet or meetha sattu, you can use jaggery, raw sugar or honey as a sweetener. I make with both sugar and jaggery, but partial to the one made with jaggery.

To get started with this particular recipe, we have to first prepare a few components. You can have sweet sattu using 10 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.

The ingredients needed to make Sweet Sattu:
  1. Prepare 1 kg whole wheat
  2. Get 100 gms chana Daal
  3. Get 4 tbsp roasted jeera powder
  4. Get 2 tbsp dry ginger powder

  6. Make ready 1/2 cup sattu flour
  7. Make ready 2 tbsp sugar as per taste
  8. Take 1 pinch salt
  9. Take 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
  10. Take As required Milk

One of the easiest uses of sattu is to make a sharbat (sweet or salty). According to doctors, this drink protects the body against sunstroke. Made with sattu, onion, lemon juice, black salt, cumin powder, chaat masala and water this drink has a tangy and spicy taste. Rajasthani sattu is a traditional sweet that is prepared during most of the festivals.

Steps to make Sweet Sattu:
  1. Wash wheat 2-3 times with water and let all dirt get cleaned. Take out the wheat in a clean cloth and drain all water. Tie a bag of wheat and keep covered for 2 to 3 hours.
  2. After that, the wheat will be dried but moist. Now take a big kadhai and keep on medium flame. Now dry roast the wheat very nicely, so that all moisture should go and wheat becomes crispy. Dry roast chana daal after cleaning with a wet cloth. (Do not wash chana daal)
  3. Once the wheat and chana daal is roasted add all other ingredients and grind it to smooth flour or can be done in flour milk. Sattu is ready. You can store it in an airtight container for 2-3 months.
  4. For making sweet sattu take a bowl add all ingredients and mix with water without forming lumps. It is ready to eat. We can add chilled milk for making it more delicious and healthy.

Made with sattu, onion, lemon juice, black salt, cumin powder, chaat masala and water this drink has a tangy and spicy taste. Rajasthani sattu is a traditional sweet that is prepared during most of the festivals. It is made of powdered roasted gram, powdered sugar and ghee, spiced with cardamom powder. This special sweet is also prepared during Raksha Bandhan by the women for their brothers in North India. Sattu is a mixture of ground pulses and cereals ,mainly used in Bihar and Jharkhand states of India.
