Instructions to make Ilish Maacher Matha Diye Kochu Shaak:
- Chop the Kochu Shaak into fine pieces. Put it in pan. Add salt and turmeric powder. Boil it till the shaak softens.
- Set it aside.
- Now pour mustard oil in pan. Temper the oil with 1 tsp Cumin seeds/ Jeera. Put the Kochu Shaak.
- Saute for few minutes.
- Set the shaaak aside again.
- Fry hilsa fish heads in the same oil.
- Break the fish heads into shreds.
- Put the shaak.
- Add salt to taste, turmeric powder and 1 tsp Gur.
- Mix everything.
- Cook for few minutes till the fish heads gets mixed well with the shaak.
- Add dollops of mustard oil and finish cooking
